Thanks Merlin, and congratulations on your completion too!! There's light at the end of the tunnel
I also spoke with Nationwide (who I bank with) and asked them what they ask on a mortgage application form and they ask have you entered into an IVA in the last 6 years which I could legitimately say no to once the IVA has dropped off after 6 years. I suppose the trouble I may encounter is my file may then be clean but lack of credit history could still make me a no-no to mortgage lenders. Guess building up credit for a while would be the way to go
Make sure your bank details, mortgage (if you have one) and mobile phone contract are up to date. Get a Vanquis credit card (use it for fuel and pay it off every month) and it will build up your credit rating.

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

I managed to get a Vanquis card and found that really good, very easy to keep track. I now have a LLoyds avois so I am able to gain air miles. However I shall never get myself in a mess again so I make sure I pay it off each month! My credit rating is quite good now I use Clearscore which give you a free report each month. It has been over 7 years since the start of my IVA which ended last year.
