Hi all, thought I would just share a bit of my story. My husband & myself are both looking at an IVA, jointly inc unsecured mort we owe £90,000. Even writing that figure down now makes me want to hang my head in shame, the worst thing is its not as if we have been living the highlife its just been a case of living on credit & borrowing more than we could afford for about 10 years now.

I cant tell you how helpful this forum has been to me, its comforting to know we're not alone. We have sent all our paperwork back to the IP and are now waiting for a proposal. NR could be a sticking point as they hold over half of my hubby's debt so its fingers crossed with them. We haven't paid anyone since the end of December/ beginning January so I'm hoping we're heading towards the home straight now although we haven't been hassled too much by creditors so far.

I'll keep posting with updates on our situation as I know its helped me by reading other people's posts.

I am so glad that you have found the forum helpful Frankey - we all do, and it is the most amazing place for sharing thoughts, experiences and technical issues.

So long as your IP understands NR criteria, I am sure that they would not have taken your case on if they felt it would be rejected.

Good luck with the proposals, and do let us know how you are getting on.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

Hi Frankey and welcome. [:)]
Glad you have made a move towards sorting your situation and hopefully relieving the stress and worry.
If you have been reading the forums, you will know that your story is no different in its effect than ours. Only the numbers are different. This is a place, as I have discovered, that you can actually start to hold your head up again, and take some recognition for yourself, that you are not running aways from your responsibilities, but facing them. No shame in that at all. [:)]

Hope it all works well for you and look forward to hearing your progress.
Never take a moment or a loved one for granted in the blink of an eye they may be lost forever.

You are welcome to view my ramblings here.

hi frankey, you are in the right place, i am also glad i found this forum , after a dmp that finished with more owed at the end than the beginning. i stumbled on this site. i wish i had found it years earlier. myself and my huband owed about the same as you, and i agree if we had had numerous foreign holidays , new cars etc etc i could undertand the debt, but like you and many others we were robbing peter to pay paul. once it is all agreed you will feel better. mine was only agreed in feb and i have now paid 2 payments, i know there will be times when it will be hard but the support from everyone on this forum is immense, i am addicted to it, i have to look at the posts every day, i think it is a form of therapy from the debt

good luck with everything, Cath
56 payments down 4 to go
