halifax and Lloyds tsb trading as separate companies ?

Can you tell me please if halifax and Lloyds tsb are still trading as separate companies or can they use the right to offset if either is owed money.

i believe halifax and lloyds are linked.

This would mean either could have access to the others accounts.

im sure the experts will comment and confirm

They are trading as separate companies, and I don't believe the one has the right to offset against the other, but it might be better to err with caution and open an account with an entirely unlinked bank.

They do not have right of set off.
