Hi

I recently received a letter from a debt collection agency asking for 20.99 from an old O2 debt saying they are taking me to court etc. I'm pretty annoyed by this as I shouldn't have been charged this monies at all. I phoned them and they was very rude saying as I didnt include this debt in my bankruptcy I have to pay it. I said well if I would have known about it I would have but I will phone my receiver...

Before I do was she right?

No, she's not right. BR is a class action and therefore all debts up until the time the order is made are included. You are liable for any debts after that.

Just give your OR a call and explain - they've heard it all before and it's only a small amount so don't worry x

Ring the OR and explain it was a genuine omission and more to the point you do not even know how it is owed. Do not pay the debt collector.

To be honest, it would cost them far more than the debt is worth to take you to court so i cant see them bothering.

LloydsTSB took a member of our parish to Court for a little over £700; the Recorder rapped their knuckles for refusing to accept £30 per month to clear the debt. He confirmed the debtors offer. I wonder what it cost the bank to secure a rejection of their action.

A few bullying tactics I think.

Once you have spoken to the OR and explained it to them, you can take great delight in speaking to the debt collectors and telling them they are wrong, and they won't be getting any money from you.
