how the heck does a 15 year old kid manage to get cc's???
that is just crazy! the world's gone mad!

our son knows a lad at uni who run up cc's,his father worked overtime all over xmas to pay them off,by easter he'd done the same thing all over again.

we may need interest free credit for a sofa or something when we're finished ourselves but i'd still be very wary of credit.
Nothing stays the same...everything changes..hang on in there!

I have no idea how he did it. His parents are lovely people and they despair of him!!

My daughter has been in trouble with money but we've been unable to help her out. I don't think I would anyway. They have to learn, the same as we have.

My eldest son at 28 is a poor student and lives alone supplements his income by working at McDonalds, never believed I'd see the day he got a job but he proved me wrong! Eldest daughter is married and a stay at home Mum but hubby works hard and they cope well. Youngest son well he's always on the make with money, earns an obscene amount at 24 and wastes an obscene amount too! Youngest daughter just entering the world of Higher Education and has her head screwed on, she knows all about the IVA in detail and hope that will give her something to think about now she's 18 and could potentially get credit. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Trust me, this is the child from hell. He has been a problem for a few years and I'm glad that he's not mine. I really feel for the parents as they are lovely people.

You have a lovely family Lesley.

No CC company would issue a CC to someone who is under 18.

The only way he could have got hold of one is by defrauding the CC company by giving a false date of birth.

There will no doubt now be a record at the CRA with his false DOB. When he reaches 18 and comes to legitimatly apply for credit then he may well end up with a fraud marker put on him.

Then he will have problems even opening a basic bank account.

Silly fool.

I imagine he would have given false details - I don't even know if he used his right name or not.

I don't think he will be bothered about doing anything legitimately - I seriously think he will be inside before too much longer.

I would have thought that he'd have to be on the electoral role, or provide proof that he is who he says he is and lives at the address given on his application for the CC company to satisify anti-money laundering regulations.

I have no idea but his mother was telling my hubby that she now has the cards in her possession.

He could even have given his parents or his older brothers details.

That would seem more likely. It is shocking though.

Just a quick one, Size5 said his co-op card was a VISA electron one. I have the Co-op account and I have a card with mine that just says Visa debit on it. Does that means its not the electron version? I did have it refused when there was plenty of money in the account and that was on the M & S website. Its the only place it has ever been refused.

Just wondered

The electron cards have been replaced with visa debit, however the co-op are still using numbers designated by the system as electron. If the retailer has an updated database they will read it as visa debit. However, if they still have the old database, they will still read it as electron .....so I am told!

Question answered, thanks! As I said i would never use the card if there was any doubt about the balance of the account so it was just surprising to see it refused.
