Hi,

I have a partner who is in an IVA nearly 3 years now. If we get married before the end of the IVA, does her problem become my problem. I own my property and would that be affected.

Your advice would be great.

Thanks

Her old debts are her old debts, not yours. She would have to give her IP details of the household income to ensure that you both pay a fair share of the household costs, but other than that you wont have any problems.

It should not affect you at all but if in doubt speak to her IP. As PD says she does have to give details of her outgoings but you cannot be expected to keep her or help her with her IVA payments. You are entitled to expect that she contributes towards the running costs of the house without her[or her creditors] obtaining an interest in your property.
