I was today called by an organisation called IVA Consummers Action Group.Who stated that they have been set up by the Gov to advise those in an IVA if they had been given the correct advise. ie. If you dont own your house then an IVA is not sutable.
They gave me their web site www.iva consummer.org and having looked it seem to be a normal firm giving details of what an IVA is.
I refused to give them any details.
Has anyone else had this call?
Maybe the IPs on the forum could advise.
Never heard of these people but if you are happy with your IVA then do not pay any more attention to them. They certainly would not be working on behalf of the Government!!!
I would assume they are saying they can help you go bankrupt and pay a fee to them for there assistance????
Hi Jandd
I would be quite weary of these firms offering such advice. Over the last few years I have seen quite a lot of different companies who were "endorsed" by the Insolvency Service / Government but in reality was trying to sell you bankruptcy. The best thing to do, and this is for everyone currently in an IVA, is to forward any literature you receive from them to your supervisor.
They are trying to sell you their bankruptcy assist service, on the back of convincing you that your IVA has been mis-sold. Anyone claiming to be representing the government, should be reported to the OFT for misrepresentation - which could result in them having their consumer credit and trading licences withdrawn.
I share David's views in that we are completely fed up of these ambulance chasers.
