What is happening with Mercers? Is their threat to send someone round to collect the full balance owing on barclaycard something that any one else has had to deal with? We spoke to them and told them we hopefully going into IVA but they have still sent this letter. What are they hoping to achieve by this? As I understand they don't have any lagal poweres to enter our home?
Mercers have bad press on here, so I'm not surprised that you have had a letter from them.
They often threaten to send someone round, but in truth this very rarely happens. You're right that they would have no powers to enter your home, and you don't even have to talk to them.
Personally if (and it's a big if) anyone does go to your home I would advise them that you cannot pay them as you are proposing an IVA, give them details of your IP, and if you have a date for your creditors meeting tell them that as well.
The few people who have had visits have said that the person has been polite and once they have told them about the IVA they have gone away.
