Hi Caroline. IPs are highly regulated and all should perform the correct service. You do not need to pay up front charges and any fees are drawn from the monthly contributions and agreed with the creditors. Good luck with your proposal and have a chat to more than one IP if you are unsure. The advice is free and should put your mind at ease.

You will find an exhaustive list of IP firms on www.iva.com You can have a look around read reviews etc. It pays to take your time, so do make sure that you talk to 2 or 3 providers to get a feel of what ALL your options are so that you can go forward from there.

Hi Caroline & welcome to the forum.

You've been given great advice and all I can add is: yes its scary, because your facing upto a problem you've probably shied away from for a while. Now you just need to find the right solution for you - by talking to IP's you'll see if an IVA is workable for you.

We are always here for you if you need support or feel scared.

Good luck xx

Hi Caroline again a welcome from myself, I can remember feeling like you did at the beginning of my journey and now 21 months in I can and will say it is honestly the best thing I have ever done in respect of money. I only wish I'd have done it a year previous.

Choose your IP wisely as you'll need to have a good relationship with them for the duration of your IVA and I'm sure it will go smoothly for you as others have said we're here for you any questions or doubts you may have. We can always offer you reassurance as we're all in varying stages of working towards debt freedom.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

You're absolutly right Mel - I shall lock this post as there is no point in two threads going on the same subject.
