caroline first of all welcome to the forum.

You will find a few differant IVA firms on here and it costs very little to ring 2 or 3 of them up until you find one which you feel comfortable with.

If you look at some of the threads it will give you a good idea of what to look for/avoid in IVA firms...and some of their individual reps actually post on these boards...so HELP is only a message away.

Good luck.

Take a look at www.iva.com for a list of IVA providers and reviews on each.
Give a couple a ring for some free advice on ALL the options available to you and your individual circumstances.

Good luck and dont worry too much x

I agree with Mrs Skint. You need to give a few companies a ring to sort out who you are happy with.

Five/six years is a long time and you need to be sure of who you use.

hi caroline i thought the same 4 years ago.good news ,it is true,i am debt free now,i was with payplan.after doing a income and expenditure, whats left is your disposable income, to pay into your iva every month, all expenses and fees to your ip comes out of this amount, so effectively your creditors pay for all fees.

Hi Caroline, welcome! I felt the same way as you four weeks ago - we're just about to have our case passed over to our IP. Don't worry, there's loads of really nice people on here, all in the same boat as you, and forum experts who give excellent advice. We opted to go with Vincent Bond, who have been really helpful and supportive - but speak to a few companies xx

Yes, speak to a few companies, I had to move away from the first firm I was dealing with as the allowances they were giving me were rediculous and couldn't have worked for our family income.

Good luck xxx

Hi Caroline welcome to the forum and like others have said always contact 2 if not more companies to see what is the best debt solution for you and read the reviews on www.iva.com

I hope you get something sorted soon and don't forget to keep in touch with us to let us know how you get on.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

If you have a good IP firm working alongside you whilst the IVA proposals are being finalised, there should be nothing to be scared about. Try a few firms and find the one you feel most comfortable with - the early days of entering into the IVA process can be quite stressful, and you need to pick a firm that will be supportive all the way through, and not just between nine and five-thirty.

If I go into an IVA. What happens about mortgage currently my fixed rate finished i went on variable as payments cheaper. If interest rates go up and im in IVA will i be able to get a fixed rate as the mortgage could go up sky high then all of it would be waste of time.......................wont be able to pay higher amount??????????

I'm on a fixed rate until April 2010 I think it is, this was built into my proposal and when it changes my IVA payment goes down accordingly, a good IP will look to the future and build all these changes in prior to them happening.

I doubt you would be able to get a new fixed rate whilst in an IVA, try and get one now before you enter your IVA and try and get one for 5 years and then you will know where you are at, even if it's more expensive than what you are paying now......interest rates have never been so low!
