Hi....my partner and I are on a Iva thats been running 26 months now...i have been getting calls leaving messages from a company called 1st credit chasing a debt i had with my ex husband 8 years ago...i have had no contact with them or paid them anything for over 7 years...the keep ringing 3 times a day and it plays a recorded message to contact them with a reference number...so sure what i can do and should i contact my iva company and tell them worries sick about this

If you have had no contact with the said creditor for over 6 years then ladyh is correct. The debt is now Statute Barred under the Limitations Act 1980.

this debt company i think has bought the debt from another company and have heard that they dont give up even if statute barred i googled their number so i think i will ring the iva people and see what they say thank you for everyones help

They have no option but to give up - they cannot pursue the debt if there has been no contact within 6 years.

They cant touch you, they are just trying it on. Quote to them the words from the link i posted. It's off the government website, tell them that.
