[?]hi i completed my iva early - completed after three years instead of 5 - i have just had my certificate of completion and am very happy. What do I do now? I know that IVAs stay on credit file for 6 years but can i at least get my completion date posted on my file to show that i settled early? will this help speed up my credit reference? i dont want to get into more debt but will be looking to move into a bigger house when we start a family over next year and i know that the interest rates will be a lt higher if i have a bad credit history. I know of equifax and experian - do i need to forward this certificate to them to close on my file? sorry for all the questions but i'm really confused on what to do next, and dont want to sit back and do nothing if there is a chance that this may help me repair... thanks jane

Hi,

You need to check Call credit as well and look at what they have recorded against you.

You right that the IVA will stay on for the whole six years. You need to check to see if you have any defaults showing after the date of your IVA approval. If so, write to the creditors and enclose a copy of your certificate and tell them to remove those defaults. They can't leave them on there.

The CRA's won't remove them for you, it has to be the creditors.

If you have a mortage/bank account in good order/mobile phone account all this will help to build up your credit rating.

hi jane, first of all you can register for a free 30 day trial with the 3 main credit companies, once registered you can cancel then re open anytime with your password and monthly payment aprox £6 to check your files in the future, but dont forget to cancel within the 30 days,or payments will carry on until you do.because of fraud these days its not a bad idea to check your files 2 or 3 times a year.jans right the cra.s wont remove any discrepencies on your files but if you send them a copy of your certificate and ask them to write to your creditors on your behalf to update your files they will and keep you informed of their progress.thats what i did and was very impressed with their service.you can get a copy of your files if you send them a cheque for £2 but their intenet service is excellent.good luck hope this helps a little.

You can only do the free trials if you have never done them before and obviously you need a debit card to register for them.

Personally, I would sort it out myself rather than rely on them.
