Hi everyone - firstly my apologies for not being on line lately. Hope you are all well. I have a query which im hoping someone can assist with. i have received a bill from the financial advisor who put me intouch with my insolvency practitioner and put a budget together for me to give to them. Bit awkward really because the guy was a family friend so i thought i he was advising me out of goodwill. at no point did we discuss a fee and i have nothing in writing to say i would be charged. i guess my question is - as the bill is for him refering me to the insolvency practitioner - should i give it to them and could he be included as a creditor after the event??
Sounds like this bill is for the introduction,but I would have thought a fee should have been agreed first. Talk to your IP and see if this bill is included somewhere in your IVA fees??

If anyone should pay this it should be your IP as the financial advisor put you in touch with them. It is a debt that was accrued before your IVA so should be included in your IVA.

Thankyou, i will have a word with my Ip about it - being only a couple of months into my iva and still trying to make sure my money lasts each month the last thing i need is to have to find money to pay a bill i havnt budgeted for.
I agree with Andy and I'm sure you can get it included.

You wouldnt have thought it would work for an introducers fee to be added into an IVA?? I mean why would they send a bill knowing that you would add it to an IVA and they would only get a fraction of the bill in dividends??
Seems a very strange way to work IMO.

It sounds as though Molly knew nothing about it. Surely you should be told about this, and have to stump up the payment, before the IVA starts?

Your IP cannot pay just for the case being introduced to him, only for work this person has done to assist him/her in putting together your proposals. Unless there is a contract in place between you and your friend which covers this sum, how the heck does he expect you to pay it if you are now in an IVA. Something definately fishy about all this.
