So, I have gone with Melanie Giles and have had great help from one of their advisors Tina. I have opened a new account as the majority of my loans come from my current bank. I have drained the account and sent all my info over for Melanie to look at my case. Now I have to call the bank and tell them I won't be paying the next installment. I feel sick at the thought. The first payment i'll be mssing isn't due till the 22nd so i might wait till tomorrow. The others have more time. I also have to call my landord and tell him i have changed bank accounts for my rent direct debit. I don't have to tell him why right? As long as my rent is paid it's fine?
Wanting to bury my head in the sand....but that's how i got here in the first place.

I don't think you have to tell the landlord why you're changing the account - people move banks all the time. I would've done even if they weren't my creditors, they were horrible!

I'm in the same place, cancelling all the next payments - it's an awful feeling isn;t it? But the phone calls and hassle can't last forever, you're on the right track.

I am delighted you have asked my firm to assist you with proposing your IVA, and look forward to speaking with you personally very soon.

You don't have to speak to the bank if you don't want to. They will pick up on the fact anyway and will be phoning you.

I never spoke to any of my creditors, I dealt with things by letter.

What I would say is that if you have online banking and credit accounts, go in and either remove contact numbers, or make up fictitious ones, particularly if work details are down there.

You don't need to tell your landlord why, you could just say you weren't happy with the service from the previous one and so have decided to change.

Well done for chosing a great company [:)]

You don't need to contact the bank at all. Neither do you need to explain yourself to your landlord. Just ask him for a form to set up a new DD. People change bank accounts for various reasons so don't worry.

I can confirm you've chosen a good company to work with.

No explanation required maybe you just found a better current account. Bank will definitely contact you too so don't stress about what to say to them wait for them to ring you if you feel better by doing that x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

How are you doing? I have called them and it was awful - I am in the same boat as you- newly single and noone to share the cost or the distress with!!! I have had to move as well and struggled with all the moving costs which finally sent me over the edge. I stressed for ages about whether or not to do this but I am quite certain I have made the right choice- I just hope it all goes through ok. I don't want to say I'm pleased you're in the same boat but it's nice to know I'm not the only one. My debts are about £23000.

This forum is a lifesaver. I do feel alone dealing with this in the real world but then on here there are loads of people in the same boat and everyone is so nice! I've found other places a bit judgemental. It's not how we got here, it's where we're going right? We can start our IVAs and then go speed-dating haha!

lots of love

Hi there 30girl and missy80, you can both hold your heads high because you are dealing with the situation, as you say it doesnt matter how we got here what matters is that we all take steps to sort the problem out, you are both doing that now and good luck with your journeys. It can and probably will be a stressful time while your iva,s are being proposed but just think when they are accepted how fantastic you will feel, you say you feel alone at times, when you do simply come on here as there are lots of wonderful people to give you advise and support, it really is a great forum, good luck to both of you.
