i wrote toy you a short whle ago about thinking of taking volantary redundancy from work and using part of it to pay the final 9 months of my iva.. things have moved on a little since.. talks with the union and managament have resulted in a failure to agree.. they met again today. and talks once again fell apart, according to the unoion official he is wanting us to go on strike... now im not keen on that but as im in iva i need to pay 496 a month but if were on strike how would i pay that on strike wages.. can anyone offer me any advice please... no one can leave the company till the dispute is sorted by the way so taking redundancy is not an option , well you can leave but without any redundancy.. advice please... thanks.
I think you will find that you will still have to pay your IVA payments.
Personally, my debts are more important than any strike. I wouldn't strike, but it is each to his own.

Personally, I would never strike - couldn't afford it! My family and my personal expenses come first.

I think they do have their uses, but sometimes it's all for the greater glory of the union leaders. I'm afraid I look after number one now, which is me and my family.

Hi my hub is in union and deals with things like this at work, he says you need to speak to your union rep and tell him that you can't strike. You may need to explain why and that by not earning you will be compromising your legal agreement and that you really need to work.
They need to listen to you and try to understand, after all the union is for you

Please, lets not have a debate on the merits of striking or not. The question is how it would affect the clients IVA and my advice is to ask your IP for a payment break if you do have to strike

You can always get a payment break for the duration of the strike. Your work colleagues also have commitments to maintain such as mortgages and debt repayments but may still vote in favour of strike action. It will obviously depend on the outcome of the ballot but if you and your colleagues are being unfairly treated then strike action may be the only option you have available.
While you can argue the merits for and against unions and strike action it has to be a fundamental human right to be allowed to withdraw ones labour. Otherwise people can be forced to go to work under any conditions and for any wage that the employer wants to pay or not pay.
