my sons 16 and has decided to live with me now.I pay regular payments for both my kids.My question is I have asked my ex to put the child benefit in my name.Im aware i need to inform my ip.Will this alter my I&E as obviously I will get around £80 per month extra, but as we all know with kids I will spend substantially more. Thanks

Hi Shane, yes let your IP know, you will need to adjust your I&E and the child benefit will soon be offset by increased household, clothing, travel costs etc!!!

As lem says your IP will need to know, but you also need to do a new I&E to ensure your expenses are listed as they are with you and your son under your roof now....your increase of income will be off set with the additional expenses - household bills, travel for your son, clothing etc

You do need to speak to your IP asap to make sure that your i&E is up to date and you can afford to feed a strapping 16 year old!!
