I am in a joint IVA with my partner and at the start of december she lost her part time job. Although it is tight we are still managing to make all payments and she is actively looking for employment every day. Do i need to tell my ISP or should i just continue to pay each month. Like i say it is tight with money but walking to work and saving small amounts from I&E we are managing.
Any help would be gratefully received.
You can let your IP know but as long as you can continue making the payments then it should be ok.
I hope she, gets another job soon.

Hi - sorry to hear your news. It is best to keep your IP informed so that they can support you through the difficult time. Hopefully it will be a matter of days before your partner finds new employment, but in case it isn't I would speak with your IP and see what they can do - they might be able to offer you a reduction in payments for a couple of months to buy you some time.

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
Hi Timmy I'm so sorry about your partners job situation but hopefully this will get better very soon.
I know it must be tempting just to wait but in this economic climate it may be better to inform your IP of the situation. Because you are keeping up the payments exactly when you decide to speak to your IP is up to you, but if you put it off for any length of time things may get more difficult for you both.
Personally, if a job offer is imminent for your partner I'd hang on just a tiny while, if not then a discussion is needed and I think you'll both feel better after this. Your IP may grant a payment break this is not unusual in today's markets. Please keep posting and hang in there. If I can be of any help in a rejigged CV please just request my details on the forum and hopefully an administrator will pick this up. All the very best, stay positive you can do it Hugs

Our IVA's over YIPPEE unbelievable!Seems like yesterday it was approved despite everything
Hi Timmylad, you really need to tell your IP, not the person at the end of the phone but your IP personally. He/she has the power to reduce your payments by 15% without contacting your creditors for approval, this may just be enough to tide you over until your partner finds another job. Your IVA will not be in jeopardy by making this request to your IP and as this may just be a short term reduction it may not even reflect on the dividend and the IVA could just run the 'normal' 5 years. Good luck.
