Today my darling husband was refused public liability insurance as his wife, me, has an iva....... and he is new to england and has no credit history yet.

My iva was set up long before i knew him and was a result of previous marriage breakdown. once part of a couple with an income of 120K following his infidelity im on my own and how fast the banks closed to doors on me and ho disinterested solicitors were in tring to recover any of my money from the sly old fox.

how unfair that my gentle kind new husband is treated like some criminal and now struggles to make his way fiancially because of me and my past mistakes...

I am so ashamed........so very very ashamed. i did not realise he would have every door slammed in his face this way. Is this fair? is this legal?

going to cry like a rainy year now.......

Hi and welcome.

It may not be to do with your IVA if you have no joint debts. It is probably all to do with the fact that he has no credit history in the UK.

Hopefully one of the experts can help further.

I think some posters may have managed to get this type of insurance, and they will hopefully post details of companies used.

Seems wrong to suffer because of something he has nothing to do with, although the lack of his own credit history may be troublesome also.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

Thank you everyone. No we have no joint debts.

Maybe you are correct. Although the questions were stopped as soon as he advised of my iva so Im pretty sure and so is he that that was the problem. they didnt even bother taking the application further.

how will he achieve a credit history with this discriminatory attitude towards him. He was hopeing to try and do some self employed work in the evenings to try and help us out a little more.

oh well, back to the drawing board.

thank you agian

Sorry but as he is not a UK citizen then he will have problems getting any credit or insurance over here.

We do have a poster on here, forgive me, I think his forum name is Coveritall. He might not be able to assist, due to nationality restraints, but will be able to explain whether your husband, as a foreign national, is able to get insurance in the UK.

lol, tell me about it. car insurance was a nightmare.
just something else my iva does not want to take into account....he is sales only commission. so if he doesnt sell, then i have to pick up his car insurance tab. There is no recourse to public funds... our own money no state help. And he wouldnt have it any other way. he is a proud man.

at least things cannot stay the same. I will await the next change..

thank you again.

How much longer have you got to go in your IVA, Pauper ? Hopefully it will be settled in the not too distant future and you can have a clean start.

Hi,

I do think that all of this may be due to his nationality - speak to CAB to see if they can help.
