Just to let everyone know that I have been posting on here about my IVA still being on my credit record although it was paid off 3 years ago. Went to an Estate Agents today and put in an offer on a house, they did their credit check which I was honest about but he showed me the screen - 'passed credit check' it did say about my IVA but as it was marked as satisfied that was fine for them. Just wanted to let everyone know that there is still hope within the 6 years it stays on your record!

Hi,

Glad you have found a house - do you have a mortgage offer?

Well done ...if you haven't already sourced a mortgage for this use a whole of the market broker who will have access to mortgages for people that have had IVAs in the past. We have a mortgage expert who posts on this page - Ryan from Zebra Money - his details can be found in the "meet the experts" page - he has helped several forum members (me included) to gain a mortgage whilst the IVA remained on our records.

I wondered that myself Paul as the estate agent has nothing to do with the credit check for a mortgage as far as I am aware.

Same thoughts as you guys - regardless of what the estate agency says - it up to the lender to make a decision about a mortgage application.

As others have said to prevent waste of time /money and leg work use a whole market broker use to dealing with lenders to have better understanding about post IVA applications

Speak to Ryan - most lenders will not touch you if you are recently out of an IVA
Completion certificate received 31 March 2012.

Hopefully you'll source a mortgage if that is what you need to purchase the property. If renting all the best in your new home. Ryan does come highly recommended on the forum if you need a chat he is very helpful to our posters.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

It was a full and final in 2009 looking at previous posts. It should drop off the register and her credit rating soon.

When we got our mortgage last year, the estate agents had to do a financial assurance check before the offer on our house was accepted ...this included a look at our credit files.

It's been a long time since I went for a mortgage - times have changed since then.
