Hello.
Me and my husband are in a joint iva and its now just gone past the 2 year mark. We pay £480 per month, I pay £120.00 a month and he pays £360 per month. We have three children. For the last few weeks my husband has been off work ill and his pay as he dosent get sick pay has been reduced to £65 per week. He will be off for about another month, so the only wages coming in fully are mine im monthly paid and get between £600 and £800 per month depending on what shift i work. Our mortgage payment alone is £700 per month We have spoken to our mortgage company as we have only managed to be able to affird half of this months mortgage payment, they have allowed us to spread the cost of the shortfall over the next three months this will add £106 per month onto our mortgage payment, we have also not been able to afford our last months council tax or gas monthly payment. As you can imagine we are really wooried and this is putting a huge strain on our daily life and our marraige and my husband already suffers with depression as it is....so i was just wondering would the iva company allow us to reduce our next few monthsmonthly payment until we get back on our feet with the mortgage , council tax etc etc as we really really do want this IVA to suceed as we have come so far and were beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. any advice would be realy apprecaited as none of our family members even know we are in an iva so cant talk to them about it . thanks in advance everyone.

Hi Jayne, I'd speak to your IP as soon as possible...I'm sure given the circumstances they would be able to sort something out for you x

Yes, speak to your IP asap. Your mortgage payment should take priority as this is your family home. You could ask for either reduced payments for a time or even a payment break. Don't be afraid to speak to them because they are there to help x

You should be able to get at least two months of a break without going to creditors and even if you need longer I doubt if this will be a problem. As the others have said contact your IP straightaway and they can help.

Your IP can authorise a payment break for you which would help you catch up with your other bills.

Have a chat with them and let us know how you get on

Hi Jayne. Sorry to hear about your husband and I hope he recovers soon. I can only reiterate the advice you have been given to contact your IP asap. They will be able to sort something out for you I am sure. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I'm sosorry to hear things are tough at the moment and wish your husband better!!

As the others have already said, a chat with your IP should help ease the burden of the iva over the next couple of months.

Best wishes x
