Hi all,

I began an IVA in March 2006 through DFD, which I then settled in July 2008.

Its is only recently that I thought to check my credit report as I was still having problems getting credit, and found that I still had a default recorded by one of my creditors.

Following advice on this forum, I sent the standard template letter about Credit report inaccuracies to Clydesdale Financial services (now Barclays Partner Finance), as they had recorded a default on an account in September 2006, 6 months after the IVA began. Incidentally, they did not vote at my creditors meeting.

After much to-ing and fro-ing, through the Experian Credit report help site, I was asked by Barclays to provide proof that the CFS account had been included in the IVA.

I sent off all my IVA paperwork (copies) in late July by recorded post, and it was received by them on 27th July.

I still haven't heard anything from them, and despite calling up to chase them, haven't had a response.

I understand that the default will be removed from my credit report after 6 years anyway, which will be September this year, but I really want it removed ASAP.

Is there anyone else I can contact to try and push things along, or will it take forever anyway and so I'd do just as well to just wait for the default to come off automatically? I just want to be clear of any defaults against my name so I can stop worrying so much

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Andy

If it's going to drop off this month anyway then I can't see a problem. By the time you have sorted this out the month will probably be over anyway.

I wouldn't bother to be honest - when you write to the data controller you have to give them 28 days to comply from the date of receipt of the letter. If you are writing to the ICO it can take months to be sorted out.

Thats what I was thinking. Its just a pain that I've been writing to Barclays since May to try and get this sorted, each time giving them 28 days, and it hasn't made one bit of difference.

I guess my credit report won't actually get updated until some time in October either, just keeps dragging the whole thing out longer and longer.

Oh well!

As others have said it's not worth doing anything now, the time to sort out the credit report is when you get hold of your completion certificate.

Or if you feel it's going to be held up, after your final payment (But in this case all you can do is get the default date backdated as opposed to having it marked as satisfied when you get the certificate)
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

cut n paste from another post

Even though I show IVA completed and all defaults satisfied I thought I might a apply for a nationwide flex account (a full debit card all debit cards are not equal) but the nice bank lady said to me don't bother it's still there, I wouldn't even lend you a pen to fill the application form in! ie just gotta wait won't do you a jot of good in fact there's been a few posts that suggests it makes matters worse he messed around with it and they now say it's six years from the last amendment (which is wrong of course but who needs the hassle)

I have the free Noddle credit report I get one out of five as a lending prospect, can't get any less than that. I even have a perfect score on my nationwide account, well I had to have no overdraft facility.

It's that pesky IVA but is due to drop off in two weeks see if that does anything to my score
