Hi, please can anybody advise me on what are the maximum amounts per person ( or family size) please.
We are not trying to 'con' our iva company and get all the maximum allowed, its just that we are sruggling so badly and are both just so stressed with it all. Our iva payment was set higher than we had first been advised so it was always going to be a struggle but just the smallest things push us over as we have not even a penny spare!
( kids need shoes, no chance. In all the rain ive not got a coat or umbrella, its awful)
We knew we would never be living well on an iva but looking at crap food, not being able to give the kids enough fruit etc makes me so sad.
Im filling them up on cheap value biscuits when they say they are hungry [:(]
The iva ompany have sent us a new i&e form, hence the question!
Thanks in advance[:)]

Hi,

I would suggestg that you put down your actual expenditure and don't forget things like shoes and clothes for the kids as they are important.

You may have to back things up with receipts but hopefully they won't be necessary.

Hi! Yr situation sounds very unacceptable to be honest and your IP certainly needs to review your case immediately! An IVA is not meant to leave you in this situation and if this is the case you may need to look at other options! An IVA is not always the right solution and I do feel that they are misold in many cases!

The government have trigger figures which detail how much anybody can claim for expenditure! Unfortunately these figures are only available to licensed individuals so are not free to view! If you visit the CAB they may be able to advise you further as they work with these figures all of the time!

I would still suggest that you put down what you pay and be prepared to back it up with receipts if necessary. Even though I've never had to do it, it is a proviso in my IVA to provide receipts if requested.

I agree with Niobe. Tell your IP what you need to spend on each category, and back it up with evidence. There are guideline figures, but you should not rely on them as they may not suit your circumstances.

All the best and as others say put down your realistic figure of what you're spending and discuss with your IP, each IVA is individual x

Quertypants: Really sorry to hear of your situation, but that excellent link by Heretoday is well worth a look.

I & E is bound more-or-less by CCCS guidance. So another option might be to run through the CCCS IVA I&E assessment online. If you enter high amounts, it prompts you with what the CCCS maximum guide amount is for each expense category. You can then compare these figures to what you have been allowed.

Well worth doing at review time if nothing else.

Either way, you should not be suffering to the extent you are. I hope your IP has a sympathetic ear over your scenario. Good luck.
My opinions are just that: Based on my experience and being a self-employed IVA customer.

I don't see how anyone could not claim the higher allowance for Food, Tioletries and Cleaning. The average works out to £37.41 per week for a single person.

If anyone does manage to keep to that figure, I'd be happy for any pointers.....
I can now do without.....

I think it's all very well advising Qwertypants to just put down what she spends, but the problem is that she isn't spending what she needs to because the kids are going hungry and she has had to cut back enormously to meet the IVA payments!

Instead I think at this stage, it's more realistic to suggest that Qwertypants puts down what she thinks she NEEDS to spend to ensure her family is clothed and fed and the essentials are being met, how she then backs this up with receipts for her IVA company though when she hasn't actually tried this out yet is a difficult one, can any IP's advise on this?

Melanie gave good advice in her reply saying to tell your IP what you need to spend in each category.

I sincerely hope your IP looks at your revised I&E and you're able to buy the much needed coat and brolly for yourself and your children's shoes as well as improving your diets.

It's tough in an IVA but shouldn't be impossible.

Thank you everyone for the replies.
I will have a good luck on those pages and get our form filled in asap.
We always knew life in an iva was going to be harder but not as bad as it has been lately!!
Oh well, fingers crossed!
