Hi Sally, so sorry for your loss, however i do think that honesty is the best policy here as much as it isn't nice, however as you have been completed for over 6 months then maybe your IVA provider will do the honorable thing and let you keep this money. I know that DFD whom i'm with and they are not the best in all honesty wrote to me stating that any windfalls etc because i have met all my obligations with them are mine to keep. Please think carefully as Niobe says solicitors will have duty of care to inform all concerned, fingers crossed you can keep it, good luck. x
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.
IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.
I'm sorry to read of your loss and sincerely trust that working together with your IP you will be able to retain your inheritance. This hypothetical situation has arisen many times on the forum and now it's materialised it would be nice if you could update us as to how your IP deals with this situation.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
I'm sorry for your loss Sally. You do need to be honest with GT and I wish you luck with being able to keep your inheritance. Please let us know what happens x
