Hi all, long time no visit!

All is well with us, we are coming up to 5 years since we went bankrupt - can't believe how quickly time has flown!

I have just done a check of all our credit records and have a concern regarding an entry.

Peugeot Finance officially defaulted us in June 2008, when our bankruptcy was Feb 2008. However, as it was our only car at the time, we made a payment in Feb 2008 prior to bankruptcy.

There are therefore only missed payments from March 2008 onwards.

They have settled the account as of Feb 2009.

My concern is that if I report this to them them, that they may remove the default from June, and leave the account settled to Feb 2009, then the account will stay on my report for 7 years after my bankruptcy.

I also have an issue with Welcome Finance, who never defaulted my account (they just kept reporting missed payments) and just settled it as of Feb 2009. As it stands, that will still be on my account after 7 years, which seems wrong to me.

Do you think there is there any point speaking to the information commissioner?

Hi Wen , I can comment on the welcome finance problem for you , I have an account with them and as per my credit files they always put a late payment marker on there and no sign of a default date as per the date of my iva acceptance.
I wrote a letter to welcome and they agreed to change the information on my credit files .
Great !! I though , checked my files again after they SAID they would update it . It was still the same :-(
I called welcome and they said they will send an emergency update to the credit reference agency , checked last week and it was defaulted ... Finally , I would advise you to keep putting pressure on them and eventually it pays off .. After 3 months off trying
Good luck

I've found that my defaulted accounts have been dropping off at the default date rather than the settled date.

I had to get a few of my creditors to amend the default date and none of them removed the default, they amended it to the date of my BR.

Thanks for your advice.

It turns out Welcome Finance have updated Experian & Call Credit, but not Equifax - which is very ironic, since I put a dispute through Equifax in the first place !!!!

Skippy, you are right it will drop off at the Default date, the problem with Welcome Finance is they never defaulted, like mazbrown, they just kept marking the file 6 months+ late until it was settled on the discharge date, hopefully get it sorted soon!

natwest is doing the same as welcome, and they was showing default dates originally, keep an eyes on these characters..its not by accident

they hate the idea that the debt has be written off
time is always the answer, stay focus and you will reach the end all in good time
