Hello I am currently on an IVA and I have just joined a new company and part of my role is to entertain clients.

This requires a lot of expenses to come out of my current account.

Can I apply for a credit card to pay for any client expenses in the knowledge that my company will pay my expenses back each month?

It would be better to get a corporate card from your employer as this would not involve any credit checks. Otherwise you would need to disclose the IVA to the credit card company and get permission from your IP. The only other option would be to become a named user on someone else's card but this would need to be someone very close.

I have clients who use personal credit cards for a similar purpose, but they do ensure that they are paid off in full as soon as they receive their expenses. Nothing wrong in doing this, so long as this is fully disclosed to the other creditors from the outset, or you get your IP's permission - however it may be difficult for you to find any lender who will allow you this type of credit whilst you have an IVA on record.

And employers should not expect their employees to use personal sources of credit to fund business expenditure in the first place!

I use a Corporate card for company expenses and it works really well, however I had this prior to the IVA and it's use was included and agreed in my IVA proposal.
