Hi,

I have been offered a promotion starting September and I would like to use some of the extra in wages to pay for a professional development course. Could this count as an expenditure on on I&E? I only have the post for a year but if I show my worth (the reason I want to take on a course) it could be permanent?

Thank you all for you help.

Hi Coleen. I doubt the course fee would be seen by the creditors as an acceptable expense. However, you should only have to pay in half of the net rise, so could use the other half to fund the course.

Some IP's will also only account for the rise from the next review (not all are as generous -- check the terms of your own proposal) so all of the rise between getting it and the review should be yours.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
