Yesterday, I posted about money going into an account accidentally which is locked into my IVA.
I need some advice please:
I phoned the bank about three times yesterday. The first phone call resulted in them asking me how much I was overdrawn as a security question. The second time, I was told to go to a local branch to get the money returned to sender. The third time I rang, they said the account was closed (!). It should be closed, but surely if it was closed, they would not be able to ask how much I was overdrawn by the first time...
The debt that was owed on that account was sold, so I don't owe the bank the money. HOWEVER, I do have a credit card with them that I do owe money on (which is locked into the IVA).
Before I rang, I could login to lloyds online to check the credit card statement etc. After the call, and 24 hours (ish) later, I cannot login to check the details.
On the third call, they said the account was closed and the money will bounce back to sender. I am very suspicious now that they will keep the money and offset it against the credit card bill. I know from a response yesterday that they can't do that legally. I'm just wondering what you think and what you think I should do next? I'm a bit unsure of how to manage this and get a definitive response from the bank...
