Hi everyone
Hope you are all well.
This morning my employer asked that I become a signatory to the business bank accounts. I agreed that I would because I assumed that on the basis that it was not my account that there would or should be no problem in light of my IVA.
Now I'm not so sure having spoken to our point of contact in santander and he has implied that I will need to provide appropriate ID etc to verify who I am and so on. I am now seriously concerned that a credit check will have to be carried out on me in order to add me as a signatory but I thought that it shouldn't involve a credit check but rather an identity check and surely my credit worthiness should not matter? Further problem is that santander was one of my creditors.
Would really appreciate any advice on this dilemma as my IVA thus far has been 100% private with only my husband knowing and I cannot disclose this to my employer due to the perceived stigma attached.
Does Anyone know the procedure for signatories being added while in an IVA?
I'm going to worry myself now all weekend over this.

You should be fine as there is no reason to run a credit check but they will need I.D. If you have any concerns tell Santander the truth and I am sure they can put your mind at ease.
Thanks Lesley and Michael for your replies.
I rang santander just now to ask if a credit check would be carried out on the person who was to become a signatory as my personal credit file would show up the fact that I was in an IVA? The young gentleman went to check with his manager and came back to say that he was unsure as to whether it would be a credit check or just an identity check and that if it were a credit check he was unsure of the criteria and if I failed he equally was unsure as to whether a reason would be given to my employer ie. it simply failed or rather it would state the fact that I am in an IVA??
I really do not know what to do next, do I 'chance it' and allow the application to go forward and see what happens or do I tell my employer on Monday that I cannot do it due to my credit rating? I do not at all want to have to 'detail' my private financial affairs with my employer as they are extremely private to my husband and I only not should I have to I feel.
I'd appreciate any further advice that u all can offer me...
