I have 2 credit cards now, both paid off each month as the par is high but obtained them to improve my credit file as my Iva falls off in February but does this look worse than not having any?

As long as they are managed well and the credit limits are not too high they should be doing nothing but good to give you a positive credit history.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Yes, I agree.

Already having a nice long line of green ticks or blobs once your file recovers, (demonstrating that you can repay/manage credit responsibly) looks more normal than a file with no credit history.
My opinions are just that: Based on my experience and being a self-employed IVA customer.
