Me and my husband are in an iva it has £15 months left to finish this includes an extended 6 moth due to a back injury of my husband. My husbad has now been told he need an operation on his back is a big operation and mean he will be off work for around 6 months he dosent receive sick pay in owrk and we really dont want the iva to fail , he is refusing to have the op done not for this to happne but is in agony with his back, I fianlly opened up to a family member about us being in an iva they have kindly offered to lend us £3,000 to use as a possible final settlement for the iva which would allow my husband to have the op done, but what is the chances of them accepting an offer of £3,000 when we have 15 months left and we pay £400 per month ?????? any advice would be apprecaited

Hi, firstly in my mind your health comes first before anything. I would definitely talk to your IP and outline what you've told us and hopefully they'll put the 3000 forward as an offer to conclude the IVA. The full and final meeting can take a few months to draw together so it may be a few less months when it's finally sorted. Plus will there be a waiting list for the op?

I would definitely advise having the op if that is going to alleviate some pain he is experiencing now. All the best.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi - sorry to hear about your husbands back. As Lesley says, health comes first.

I think if you can provide medical evidence, creditors may be understanding in your circumstances.

I would discuss this with your IP and then take it from there. I would also ask for a payment break so your husband can have the operation and not worry too much whilst recuperating.

I would certainly think creditors would be sympathetic to a full and final so provide any medical evidence you can to back up the case.
