my IVA is done and dusted, still waiting for Ferguson to sort with GT, see my other post. my new question is which is the best place to go for a mortgage, NatWest would be able to offer me one except they don't lend to any who has had an IVA, even if it's complete. I'm looking to buy the our council house under right to buy as the prognosis for my mums cancer is less than 6 months and I want to know that me and my sister have living security. any ideas?

Hi, sorry to hear about your mum firstly.

In answer to your post we have two posters who are mortgage experts namely Ryan and Shaun, they have helped many posters post IVA with mortgages. Why not give one or both of them a shout and see if they can indeed help you.

Ask experts a questions link to the left, then scroll down and you'll find their direct contact details.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Some banks will not lend to any one after an iva and this is confirmed by specialist brokers.
However the Halifax and Woolwich will lend,as long as 6 years have passed from your iva start date And all defaults removed from your credit file.
I would go direct to them and apply. No fees will be charged. You can get a prime mortgage with good rates.
If the choices of lenders are restricted as it has been mentioned then what is the point of using a broker? With 2 banks probably lending, approaching them direct is ideal.

ok so I have 6 years since my start date, the main 2 are the Woolwich and the Halifax. problem: the Halifax were my main creditor, cant see them giving me a mortgage.
