Hi all

I and my partner really want to get married next year we are not good at saving in any sense!! And then would love to plan a family we don't own our home but hope to in the future

Does anyone have any tips or how we can save? And how much do you save out of interest

When I started the IVA I worked out what was going out in direct debits ( and tried to get all essentials paid this way). Then left that amount, plus a little extra, in the bank. The rest I drew out, in cash, on pay day.

The cash I then sub divided into little pots for housekeeping, petrol, etc and spent from them.

Just before payday any surplus was scooped into a savings pot. Likewise my shares of overtime etc were popped straight into the savings pot.

Can you get one of those savings accounts where you cannot touch your money for a few months? That way it is out of sight and mind and might make it a bit easier to save
