Wouldn't it be better to contact the IP's authorising body first, then if the matter isn't resolved, go to the Regulator?
They are one and the same.

@Katy, I guess the companies handling IVAs aren't in any particular hurry to close IVAs off. They've had their money, and it isn't their lives being negatively impacted by any delays.

Totally wrong that's for sure, and what really annoys me is their lack of communication to let clients know what's going on.

Ah, I misunderstood in that case.

I thought that all IPs are are members of one of a number of regulatory bodies, but there is the official government department which has oversight of all IPs.

My IP is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

The IPA are one body of Regulators, the link you posted to .gov.uk is the Insolvency service gateway. They filter the complaints and pass them to the relevant regulatory body. It was recently set up to save people having to fish around for various points of contact.

That's great, thanks. I'll decide which one to go through with my complaint then.

In view of what I read here I'll go through the Gateway to make my complaint:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... he-gateway

16. Can I send my complaint direct to the appropriate authorising body?

No. All complaints about insolvency practitioners should come through the Complaints Gateway. If a complaint is inadvertently sent direct to an authorising body, they will forward it onto the Complaints Gateway.

It's amazing what complaining does. I'm happy to say that this morning I received my completion certificate. It's a shame it took a number of emails and phone calls to get it done, but, at least it's all now resolved.

Totally agree. I contacted my IP in June satying I wanted to pauy it off. I took till December for the meeting and now they are saying 3 months to send me the certificate - 9 months!!!!!!!!! They are so long winded! and no information on process has been sent out, I had to chase them to see if they had recieved the cheque! they cashed it quickly enough - now they will sit on the funds and gain interest. It seems that they string a closure out - as they will lose the monthly fee - then sit on the funds! not happy - I need to moe on with my life and get my certificate
IVA accepted 31.05.11 and 2 reviews DONE!!! Wow,nearly approaching my third. can't believe how time has flown!
December 2015 - made a one off payment and made a settlement of the IVA!! recieved certificate in May. - all completd and now I can get on with my life

Now I have been issued my completion certificate do the credit reference agencies get notified by the Insolvency Service register, or do the agencies do a sweep of the register, or do I have to let each C.R.A know myself?

My IP (GT) informed them. I do not know if this is standard. Might be worth keeping an eye on them ( as I recall my IVA was marked completed pretty quickly)

Glad to hear you have now received your completion certificate. I have noticed in my paper work that my IVA should not exceed 72 months. Surely once this have passed you should have completed all your obligations under an IVA. It seems totally unfair that if your company decides to take years to issue your CC you have to pay over any windfalls etc.

My IP stated in his letter to me re my completion that they have no affiliations with any Credit Reference agency. My credit reference file and its maintenance is my responsibility.

I obviously realise that this is the case, but that doesn't tell me whether or not they will contact the main agencies on my behalf, so I have decided to contact them myself with copies of the completion documentation just to be sure.
