Hi After nearly 6 years (2 payments left) my husband is due to complete his IVA (mine finished last year):-)
He is now on notice of possible redundancy :-(

As far as I understand things they will allow him up to six months worth of redundancy payments while he job hunts. The rest will need to be paid into the IVA.Could anyone confirm if my understanding is correct?

Thanks

This is correct, assuming this is the clause in your own proposal (they do vary) but he will not be liable to pay this in until such time as the redundancy is confirmed --- hopefully this will be after the completion certificate has been issued.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Hi, as Foggy says hoping the completion certificate can be issued before the redundancy notice is actioned and even better let's hope it doesn't happen and he ramins in employment.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi

Would be good if he is not included in the first round of any redundancy, so he can complete his IVA.

Worse case scenario is that he will retain six months net pay, he will probably have made his final IVA payment by the time his redundancy payment is received so it is just a case of waiting for his completion certificate whilst looking for a new job

Good Luck

It may be worth trying to borrow the last couple of payments and see if your IP will close the file down. Explain there is a threat of redundancy and he wants to be free to look at other jobs including those lower paid.

I have today changed the payment date for Junes payment to the 1st rather than the end of the month. This will be his final payment,at least it should hopefully speed up completion certificate by 4 weeks,My completion certificate took 9 months to receive as they were waiting for confirmation of balance from one of the credit card companies. I really hope my husband does not have this to deal with as well and the completion certificate can be issued quite quickly.
