I am 2 months away from the end of my IVA, Grant Thornton have contacted me to say one of my creditors, Lloyds TSB, yet to put in a claim for there money, over £18,000. I was asked to send in an old bank statement and now they are insisting that i contact them to give permission for them to talk to the IP.
Why is this my problem? if they haven't come forward by now surely thats their problem.
They also want to me to cooperate with them in trying to claim PPI for the second time against all the creditors, I've done it once, why should i have to do it again.
Can i say no to them??
You do have to comply with reasonable requests from the IP but it does seem a long time for Lloyds to have sat back. I see no harm in ginving Llloyds permission to speak but it should have been dealt with before now. The PPI may relate to old cases that were rejected before but may be accepted now so no harm in letting them try. It could hold up the colsure of your file if you do not and you could even be in breach.
You can say no, however the response is likely to be failure of your IVA for non-compliance. It would be a crying shame to lose it all now when so close to the finishing line.
You ask "Why is this your problem" ---- the answer is because it is your IVA and your debt free future at stake I am afraid.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
