I have finally made my final payment to DFD on 1st June 2017, I've had the go ahead to cancel my S/O (which I did with Joy). I then received a letter dated 5th June advising me that my IVA has been paid in full and they have sent my case to the closure department who will undertake a final review and I will hear from them shortly. The a letter dated 6th June 2017 arrived on the same date from the closure department advising me that they have written to my creditors to extend the term of the IVA by 6 months, no explanation as to why or no indication as to what happens now. I can't get hold of anyone in DFD. I was waiting on the phone for 55 mins last night only for the phone to cut off as the office closed at 6pm. I have had no answer to emails either or messages left.
I have signed the deed of assignment and they have confirmed they have received this. I am renting my property so there is no issue with a re mortgage.
Can any one tell me why they would extend term for 6 months? Has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean I need to pay more money during this 6 months?
Sorry feeling slightly infuriated as I have been waiting for this day for that last 5 years.
Most IVA's allow for an admin period of up to 6 months after the final payment, which can be extended if need be. I imagine that they are just formalising this and they do not expect further payments, just the ability to drag their feet sorting out closure. Hopefully it will not actually take the 6 months and will happen sooner.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
