I am in my 3rd year of an IVA and during the first year my council tax was paid over into the IVA. As an aside I have never had council tax arrears. My council tax bill for this year states I owe £1132. I assume this must be from then. Where do I stand with this please.

They cannot bill you for the year (or part year) covered by the IVA. Ask them for an explanation.

It may be for the following year - we have had ours today.

You sure it’s just not saying you owe that amount this year which will be paid over the 10 monthly payments?

It is possible that they have withdrawn the facillity to pay over 10 months. Personally I feel it was a mistake of the court to ever rule that it should be included as a debt if not in arrears.

I agree - it's part of your normal household bills. Have a word with the council and see if you can pay it monthly.

My council tax was excluded as a debt when I entered my IVA as it had never been in arrears. My IP pointed this out to me when the proposal was being drafted as it was something I would never have though of as it is just another utility bill in my mind.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

It's changed since then. I wonder whether or not insurance and normal utility bills will follow suit?

This is one of my worries, however, insurance should get away with it due to the £500 allowed credit clauses. Forcing debtors to go "Pay as you go" for metered utilities would only end up in less disposable income in the long run, so that might also be overooked.
