Today I finally received my email of the chairman’s report document pack confirming my Iva all accepted and the start date of payment and amount. So happy it’s all officially signed by myself and creditfix and can finally learn to live without the plastic now. I never knew how much I really depended on credit till now! Such a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can start to breath and learn day by day how life should really be without relying on credit!
Applying for a iva was the best thing I’ve ever done was a smooth quick progress for me all done within 3/4 weeks max as now I can see a brighter less stressful future for myself and family.
Please anyone if your struggling with debt please consider the Iva it’s a life changer. Long 5 years it will be but it’s worth it to be debt free at the end of it.
Well done. There will be struggles along the way, but you are going in with the right attitude.Look on the IVA as a tool to help you recover financially ( and there will be added mental and physical health benefits too) rather than an enemy to fight against for the next 5 years.

Thank you so much for your advice I will definitely do as you have advised. At times I did see the Iva as a worry and a failure on myself. But I know this was the right path for me, and I’m sure this will teach me a lot of things over the years to budget better and learn to deal with money a lot better also. Being able to buy something and think oh that wasn’t on credit and feel some kind is accomplishment from that. Even if it is a bag of nappies for my daughter or a weekly shop I paid that without the credit card and be proud!
Lovely post - I just looked at it as a 5 year loan and it would soon be over.

I never thought of it that way, and I had a 5 year loan before I got accepted.
Thank you to everyone on this forum that’s given me the hope and support throughout the whole process when I was down on my low and now on my high. Your all truly amazing people
We all understand what you are going through having been there ourselves and come out the other side.

It’s great to know there’s support and people that have been through the same and can share there experiences and advice.
Any advice/tips anyone can give me to help me through my next 5 years highly appreciated.
One question though said on the brochure yearly annual review is my first one in a year I’m guessing?
You can swap to Aldi or Lidl or buy basics from any supermarket. Try doing some online surveys as it all helps towards Christmas and birthdays.

As Kallis says, experiment with the supermarkets 'Basics' lines ... many are just as good ( some better) than branded lines. Learn when your usual store reduces stuff and where they stack it. Short dated stuff can still be frozen before the 'Best Before' date.
Don't keep cash in your pocket / bag. Only take money out when going to specifically buy something ---- it is amazing how much can be frittered away on the odd magazine, treat or chocolate bar !!

My IVA was 6 years but that debt free feeling at the end is well worth it!The alternative was terrifying and I no longer worry about my finances on a daily basis.Stay strong and there is light at the end of the tunnel.!!.
Thank you can finally see that it was a good choice and everything will work out in the end. And after 5 years it’s completed will be a real fresh start
