Hi, i took out an iva with payplan in 2006, completed in jan 2011 with a full and final settlement, sent in ppi claims through the free which ppi tool in august as deadline approached but was sure I'd never had ppi, however ive had letters back identifying 12 credit card/ loan accounts from the early 1990s, how does this go if i was to receive a payout on these? I understand from the 2017 court case that these payouts go to your i.p, but i have checked my original iva paperwork and no mention at all of ppi on there nor was i asked to pursue a claim while i was in the iva, i dont think claims started till after i completed my iva.
Thanks
Hi, ive taken out with payplan in 2006, completed in jan 2011 with a full and final settlement, i have recently gone through the free which ppi tool with all the main banks, was sure I'd never had ppi but thought i had nothing to lose, so far ive received confirmation of 12 loans/ credit cards from the early 1990s! Ive checked all my payplan documentation and completion certificate but no mention of any future ppi payments, i dont think ppi claims had started then, what is my position if there are any ppi payouts in the future? I understand from the court case in 2017 that these go to your i.p, but lots of mixed messages on this subject, should i contact payplan for advice on this?
Thanks
The rulings mean that PPI belongs to your creditors even after completion. Some IPs, however, lose interest and will allow you to keep it ... indeed, at least one firm isn't even pursuing it during an IVA ! So, yes, very mixed messages.
Some of the creditors may well ask you for a letter of no interest from your IP before paying out to you and some may pay directly to the IP anyway.
So, bottom line, safer to check with Payplan as to their current policy and getting the response in writing if they are happy for you to have the refunds.

How is the new ruling going to effect PPI? (as per Arnie tank on the TV commercials) Sorry if this has already been covered, I am happy to scan back through the posts.

Tell us more, Radish -- I have not seen the latest "Arnie" ads.

It was all the "you have until midnight on 31st to make your claim" on the telly. I saw Martin Lewis and he said anyone who hadn't made a claim could do so by just 'asking' and that was counted as starting before the deadline. Any queries made in any capacity before the cut off counts and claims can still be made. That's all I have found out so far.
I've not seen anything at all - all the adverts have stopped.

Ah right -- yes -- what they mean is that any claim started, in any way, shape or form, before midnight on the 29th will continue, even if they didn't have the full facts before the deadline, you have started the process.
I see the new one coming up is badly advised investments, ISAs and savings plans -- probably not as all encompassing, or as easy to evidence as PPI was.

I agree - mortgage misselling is the new one and all the accident helplines and hospital mishaps!

Phoned payplan this morning, good news, they said that as my iva was completed in 2011, they are not interested in any ppi claim refunds, and if its sent to them it will be forwarded to me
