Morning all. Just checked credit score on Experian and clear score and both are excellent. Am I able to apply for a normal rate credit card now or will I still need to get a credit building one

If there is nothing 'nasty' on your credit files, there is no reason why you should not apply. I would have a look on something like Clearscore for what is on offer, using soft searches.

If it's clear there shouldn't be anything untoward on there. I agree with foggy that you need to check companies that do a soft search so that it doesn't show up on your credit rating and it will give you an idea as to whether or you will be accepted.

So I have looked on clearscore and chances of being approved are between 80 and 100% . Just wondering if I go for one of the 100% I would stand a better chance . Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

You may be ok if it says 100% but we can't help you with that.. You have to make the decision. 100% has to be better than 80.

That’s exactly what I was thinking Kallis. Don’t need one at the minute but just trying to get back in the game. Goes without saying I won’t be abusing it and will pay off in full every month.

Will definitely be more questions Kallis . The advice everyone has given on this forum has been invaluable , especially yourself and Foggy. So glad I found this forum . Remortgage will be next challenge. Think I will wait till middle of next year to attempt that one though 😬
