IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Yes, I saw the recent TV interviews. Of course the press also like a good story -- but, essentially, this is an issue and problem. Which is why we hope that those looking find sites like ours first and ask questions. Unfortunately, when drowning you do not stop to examine the life belt !
I have long been saying that there should be more regulation ( other than self-policing) and more consumer protection and mediation services. Give the Insolvency Service teeth or extend the financial ombudsmans remit at least.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
For me, I just saw the article as useful because it at least gave a different perspective and was not pushing IVA's as the be all and end all.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
I don't disagree with that viewpoint, nor would any reputable debt advisor.
I do disagree however with those that have a clear agenda and who are unwilling to acknowledge IVA's for what they are, which is a godsend for the vast majority of people that enter them. That said, there are others just as bad, if not worse, see the MSE Forum and Twitter for proof of that. Sourcrates on MSE seems to me to be very aptly named, whilst another "expert" who is nothing of the sort, no qualifications, no Approved Intermediary status and who works one day a week as a volunteer (how IS that website funded? hmmmm) clearly has the hump about IVA's....
Kindest regards.
