We have had a full and final proposal setup for 2 weeks time but the iva company have told me today that even if its accepted by the creditors then the charge will remain on the house for another 4 years, is this normal practice ? Seems like if you offer a full and final then surely that should be the end of it ?

No -- they are telling you porkies. The F&F will end the IVA and the restriction should be removed.
The IVA will remain on your credit file until 6 years from the start, but the charge on the title deeds should be removed. You are not dealing with Ebenegate by any chance ??

If you go to the HM Land Registry site you can get a copy of your deeds, which will list all restrictions and charges on the property. Use only the GOV.UK site :
