Hi all - new poster here. I am in an IVA with Debt Free Direct and was wondering if anyone else has used them and what they think of them?

Hi Ian C and welcome.

There are a few people on here with DFD. I'm not one of them, but I am sure someone will be along shortly to share their experiences of them.

How long have you been in your IVA?

Hi
We originally took our IVA out with Clearstart. But earlier this year it was transferred to DFD.
I have only had a couple of dealings with them and found them very professional, efficent and helpful, lets just hope it carries on.
Due our first review in December 2008, will let you know more then, but as our circumstances have not changed I am expecting a straight forward and easy review.
Have have they been for you ?
53 down 7 to go !!
Cant wait till December 2012

We entered the IVA in June and have been told that we have a 12 month window to sell our house and then 6 years of payments following that. The house sale is becoause I took out a secured loan against it! All through gambling I am afraid but it has now been 6 months since I had a bet and my wife has stood by me throughout (she knew nothing of the mess that I had got us into). Here's to the future!!

Hi Ian, glad to see that you have beaten your gambling demons! Long may it continue.

I have a secured loan against my house, as well as the mortgage, and I haven't had to sell mine, I will just have to try and remortgage in year 4 or continue my payments for a further twelve months.

We have been with DFD for a year now and we have not had any issues or concerns with them.Always prompt at responding to our queries and letters and always willing to answer the simple questions that seem to crop up over time.
Our annual review is due this month, and I am not expecting it to change as the cost of living has increased so much - we had a interim review done two months ago when hubbie received £3k pay rise - they said then nothing would change- so since then things have got worst in the economy so not expecting to be told now to pay more!

Alot of bad press has been received for DFD on this forum, but everyone has different circumstances and needs and therefore everyone will see their IP in a different light - personally DFD were right for us!

That's a great post - and goes to show that for every client who may be having a bad experience, there are probably nine very happy clients. Thank you for sharing that feedback with us - and have you posted a note on the comparison site www.iva.com?

Hubby had his IVA with DFD. It all ran very smoothly for 3 years and reviews were done on time.
The only issue we really had was trying to contact an IP to offer a F&F settlement. Was a bit of a pain but all sorted in the end.

Hi

Sorry.....beg to differ!!!lol
DFD are dreadful!!
My hubby and I had an IVA for 2 years with them and they were awful. We had no reviews, no contact with our IP, no calls returned, no letters answered and when I lost my job our IP via a girl in the call centre, said to just pay what we can afford and that was it; next thing I know I am issued with a notice of breach. Hubby and I arrange to settle the arrears over 6 months, DFD decided to extend our IVA another year without asking us. In April I discovered I was pregnant, quite a shock, so we decided to fail our IVA. My hubby is an Accountant and he decided to take the risk and the only thing DFD ever did for us with agree to fail the IVA and not declare bankruptcy.
They said that they 'couldn't be bothered' with us anymore because we made so many complaints.
Tell me, is it a complaint when you tell them every month for 2 years that they have failed to add several debts to our IVA? This was another thing. Because they failed to add several debts we are paying them off now. DFD can go to hell in my opinion. I wouldn't trust them with a barge pole.
