Sorry for another thread on BT although this one is slightly different.
I changed my BT landline number due to excessive phone calls from creditors. One of whom was phoning over 100 times a week. I was averaging about 150 calls a week including all my creditors. At first I answered the calls and then realised I was talking to a robot who didn't really care what I had to say.
I phoned BT who were very good about it, they gave me a new number and made it ex-direcrory. I registered with the TPS again and all was good for a week. Then the phone calls started up again. Now they are nowhere near the same frequency, probably about 10 a day, but how do they get my number?
BT promised I would not be hassled again when I changed my number, yet four of my creditors have managed to get my new number. Have they access to this information? I am just very puzzled by it all. If this continues I will just cancel my BT contract.
Hi.
I changed my number and went ex-directory at the beginning of my IVA process and I didnt get any calls from creditors,it was very quite !!!
so not sure where they got your new number from.
I would be asking BT how this has happened as it seems ridiculous. The reason you changed was to stop these calls, I can't think how creditors would have got your new number if not through BT?
No one should be expected to have to cope with the amount of calls you have, it would drive anyone insane - as you say creditors only want a payment and are like robots and a lot of them don't listen.
I would demand answers from BT!
Good luck and be assured that if your iva is approved the calls will stop and life will return to some sort of normality,

Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....
I've always been ex directory. My creditors had my old number, because I had given it to them when I took the loans etc out.
With BT Broadband talk, I got an additional number, also ex directory, which was given out to friends etc. I have never had a creditor or a sales call, or any other unwanted call on this number.

We're ex directory and the only nuisance calls we get are from BT themselves trying to get us to get our calls and internet through them!
I can believe they do sell the information on Jane - when we had a BT broadband account a couple of times there was a notice on the home page advising that BR collect information about there customers. I used to get so much spam (despite having a firewall) that I'm convinced BT had something to do with it.
