Hi All

My wife had a call regarding one of her credit cards with LTSB the other night, in this conversation he mentioned a department called Central Debt Recovery. She decided to check with Payplan first as we have a DMP set up with them and will do nothing to create problems with this. We are finding that LTSB are a pain and keep insisting they have had no info from Payplan even though Payplan insist they have sent it. I have just tried to get hold of this department but came upon the swithcboard dictator who will not put me through but insists I go via collections, they say they have not received any info from Payplan, this merry go round continues. Meanwhile charges and interest are wiping out our payments on our LTSB debts. Some of our other debts are been transferred and some we hear nothing from, it is mainly this LTSB crowd who are nothing short of useless.

Is it worth going to the ombudsman or do you out there have any ideas. We are going mad with this.

John,

I hope someone can advise you on this one. Lloyds were a pain with our IVA. Despite voting in the meeting they still tried to take hubby to court 7 months into IVA! It was withdrawn from court but still you would think the departments would talk to each other. Its not difficult to update customers files.

Hi there

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with lloyds, sometimes that can be the way with dmp's with some creditors being fair and others not.

I have never been in a dmp myself, but I am sure others will offer advice.

I was in a DMP, and Lloyds were one of my creditors (credit card almost £3,000). They were fine with me though, stopped all interest and charges and I just had a small amount to pay each month.

Funnily enough though - they were the only ones who voted no for my IVA!

HSBC used to say they had received nothing from my firm even though I knew it had been sent.

I can only suggest speaking to Payplan again.

Get Payplan to discuss this with KPMG - who are the professional firm which represents Lloyds TSB. They are immensely helpful in dealing with queries, and your IP will have a relationship with one of their senior people I am sure. We regularly look for internal assistance in this manner, if creditors are proving to be difficult.

Rumour has it that Lloyds are setting up their own DMP Department!

Hi John.

How long have you been in your DMP?

Lloyds can be very slow at recognising both DMPs and IVAs. Speak to Payplan about the phone calls and added interest and see what they can do.

If Lloyds are refusing to freeze interest on the accounts and are still chasing you for additional payments, it may be that Payplan recommend that you try and propose an IVA. This will depend on your circumstances though.

In response to David's comment, I think that Lloyds are trying to get more of their customers who are in financial difficulty to go into a DMP rather than an IVA. Unfortunately they only seem to become proactive on this (and deal sympathetically with their customers) when an IVA has been put forward and they are in a position to reject the proposals (i.e. they have more than 25% of the debt).

Hi All

Thanks for the replys and advice, we have been in a DMP for a few months now our 4th months payment has just gone out. We did try for an IVA but it was rejected at creditors meeting due to it being not an high enough offer to satisfy the creditors. We intend when circumstances improve to go back and try again. Not sure when this will be.

I have not seen any change of tack by Lloyds in their voting in IVAs generally, apart from rejecting cases where they hold more than 75% of the debt. If your DMP is not being accepted by creditors, this does give you good grounds for proposing an IVA.

I had 2 loans/2 C.C. and an overdraft with L.T.S.B. and they phoned me a couple of times about 3months after my IVA was accepted from their call centre.
I told them that I was in an IVA but they didn't seem to understand this and kept on repeating themselves so I keep on repeating myself and it went on for ages, we sounded like a couple of parrots[;)]
In the end I put the phone down and contacted my I.P. (payplan) who immediately got in touch with L.T.S.B. and I received an apology by email and a couple of days later a letter arrived from the LSTB repeating the apology[:0]
I have not been contacted by them since.
Get in touch with Payplan and they will sort it out straight away, it does sound like LTSB are going thru some changes within the company concerning debts etc

That's good advice - problems like this can usually be sorted out if you know the right people to go to.
