I have a bnak account with a VISA Electron card but there is no cheque book. Do you know of any banks that offer cheque book/cash point cards without me having to pay £39.95 for a pack to find out? My life would be easier with a cheque book rather than a VISA Electron.

Hi and welcome.

If you are in an IVA you may find it hard to get an account with a cheque book.

I can only suggest that you try applying for a few accounts. It costs nothing to apply.

Once I had started to go down the IVA route I opened a new basic account with Abbey, and they have provided a VISA electron card, and a cheque book. My IVA is still at proposal stage though, so it may be different if you are actually in one. I dont envisage ever using the chequebook to be honest I very rarely write them, but it is there at the back of a drawer if I ever need it.

I don't miss having one at all. I can go into the bank if I need to pay anything, or do a transfer online.

I am curious though to know why you would have to pay £39.95 to find out if you can have an account. I've not heard that before.

I haven't heard of paying £39.95 before either???Where did you get that info from mdb90?

I have a chequebook with my electron card ( Halifax), but in all honesty I can't remember the last time I wrote a cheque.
