Hi....I had a joint mortgage with a former partner which I have now been released from having paid a lump sum. On applying for a new mortgage I found that I had an IVA registered at my former address which I know nothing about linked to this joint mortgage. Was my former partner eligble to apply for an IVA against a joint debt (Mortgage) withoutb my consent...I am now left with an IVA on my records without any knowldge or desire to have one

This does seem rather strange. The IVA would not have been on the mortgage as IVA's are only for unsecured debts. The mortgage is only taken into account for household expenses.

I don't see how you could have an IVA against your name without your knowledge.

One of the professional experts will be along shortly and may be able to shed light on this.

There would have been nothing stopping your partner from applying for an IVA without your knowledge, but I am unclear as to how this has been linked to your mortgage.

I think that when you explain what has happened to your prospective lender, they will realise that this does not relate to you at all and you can then proceed with your application.
