My son has recieved a letter asking him to phone a number to assist in their enquires. We tried to do this but they lines are engaged. I have googled the company who seem legit but there is a fragmental forum that seems to come up, other people have phoned the line only to be told you need to pay this or else. The caller is very abusive threatening all kinds of things, saying that the debtor was hiding away in an attempt to not pay it. He talks over everything you say.
I kind of know a little bit about debt from the forum and if the letter had been addressed to me I would have delt with it but I dont think my son will cope with this, he is already very scared.
Is there anyway I can deal with this for him or is there anywhere I can go to stop these people harrassing my son for payment. He owes nothing.
I am thinking trading standards here but can I act for my son, he has a disability?
How disgusting Lily! I can't find out much about them either.
Is there an address on there? I think I'd be inclined to write a really snotty letter back to them.

I have found a very legit looking tower investigations company and have send a strongly worded email. Perhaps some scam artist is using them. We are not about to stand for harrassment of a disabled and vunerable individual, they can flippin think again.
Thanks for your replies, I just hope it doesnt turn into a nightmare for him.
Hi, I'm not sure if this will be any help but a couple of months ago we got a letter from this firm and I also tried to call but it was permanently engaged. Then by a chance I mentioned it to my next door neighbour who had also received the same letter, managed to get through to someone and they basically wanted to know the whereabouts of the person who used to live in our house. Apparently they had to "contact them urgently re: financial reasons". Well my neighbour told them sorry he couldn't help & hung up. Since then I have received a similar letter from another company asking if I can help locate this person. I have no intention of calling them. I think they send letters to anyone who may have a link with or know the wherabouts of someone they are chasing probably who owe money. My advice would be to ignore it.
lily im so sorry these guys are hassling your son and stressing you.
i had a look on this companys website-from what i can glean from google is that they operate from a registered office in new malden in surrey and also go under the guise of a company called global debt and allegedly do lots of work for citibank and lloyds.
its disgusting that they are bothering you. you know mel or andy or size 5 or david will view this soon and help you x
best wishes hunny FD X
Other than that, I'd just bin the letter and ignore it.

Oh thanks hun, but I got the address from the website, I have emailed them informing them that my son is disabled and does not have any credit or debts. Hopefully that will be the end of it. I do feel better about it now, the last thing we need right now is debt letters or abusive phone calls. He is ever so worried about it but I wont them let upset him, we just need to know what its all about. Hopefully its one they have sent out to all the chaps with the same name as him. I will email trading standards tomorrow and see if I get a response back from the email I sent to the company.
Hi Lily - these guys use a number of electronic databases and a shot gun approach to track down debtors.
The are the worse kind because they try and tag the debt onto anybody who calls them. They normally write to neighbours to embarras people into paying even though it isn't there debt.
I would make no contact with these people - never give them phone numbers, address details or reference numbers they are leaches.
