Hi Forum Members

I have been browsing the forum for sometime now, but have never felt the need to ask any questions as me and my wife are comfortably in an iva and have had no problems.

However, i now have a question. [:D]

Like i said above, me and my wife have been in an iva for nearly 2 years now. We have no children, but this could change sometime soon. Basically, im wanting to know how this will effect our iva ?? will the IP take the extra cost of children in to account and allow us more money per month ???

Thanks for any help.
Rich

hi richie-welcome
if that situation were to arise your ip would do a new income and expenditure with you and extra provisions would have to be made for your new arrival.
ask your ip about your plans good luck n keep posting [:)]

Hi again

Would this affect the 5 years we have it over ?? ie. would the iva last for longer because we will be paying less a month ??

Hi Richy,

We don't have a section where we discuss which IP we are with. If it comes up in a posting we will sometimes talk about it, and posters will sometimes recommend their IP if someone is looking for advice.

I don't think that the Forum administrators would like it.

The closest thing we have is www.iva.com where there are lists of companies and reviews, but that's about all.

Somebody could come along and shoot me down in flames about it FD,
but I just don't think the forum would like anything like that.

If someone is wanting advice, then it's fine to mention yours if you are happy with them (which I know you are).

Don't worry about getting things wrong sometimes - I still do. I have to apologise quite frequently!

Not sure why people are not allowed to discuss their IP firms on the forum?

If you were to have children during the term of the IVA, you would have to be allowed additional expenditure, but this is best dealt with at the appropriate time in conjunction with your own IP who will help you to draw up a budget to cover the additional costs - and therefore see whether the IVA is to continue to be viable in the long term.

I don't know whether it would be allowed or not Melanie. I was just making an assumption.

You may find that some professionals wouldn't be happy if no one mentioned them!

Interesting thread !

http://www.iva.com/
is a good place to start researching into IPs...
'Each practitioner profile includes independent reviews to help consumers make an informed choice on which IVA Firm and IP will look after them'

Also we often have spontaneous postings about members personal experience with IPs.. a browse through the forum will be enlightening..
Perhaps
http://iva.co.uk/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=90
could be helpful

A direct comparison discussion on the forum would not be possible - its more a question of finding an IP who you feel is on your particular wavelength ... and will continue to be so for the next 5
years !!

We have added the frugal friends facility so that more detailed and possibly personal discussions can be continued 'offline'
