Your credit record will be shot for the full six years from the date of initial acceptance. You will need to check your credit records to see if any defaults were registered after the date of acceptance . If so you need to get those removed. You are unlikely to get much in the way of credit at the moment.

Are you still managing to refrain from the gambling?

As Jan says your credit record will be rubbish for 6 years from the date of acceptance of your IVA.

You may find that Vanquis or someone of that ilk will be your best bet but dont go attempting to get credit until the IVA is off your record as you will just further muddy the waters.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

Hiya! Your post worries me! Why are you looking for credit so quickly? It may be best to try and get used to living without it. x

depending your reasons for requiring credit there are optionsfor example specialist finance companies that help people with bad credit but you will pay over the odds.
If it is a car loan then Dunctons may help but again the interst rates will be very high !
If you simply are struggling to make ends meet now your IVA is over then try the CAB for advice on managing money....havinh finished my IVA in November last year I still live in the realms of my I&E and manage to save each month...nothing scares me more than to think of going backwards into debt !!!

Each time you apply for credit and get refused it will show up on your record so you chances will diminish. Probably better to wait a while.

Nice of you to worry about me but was just asking the question as I think that with the normal iva you aren't allowed to apply for credit?

Thanks for the reply, I have been almost totally clear, did put £25 on the OPEN but didn't seem to count as a bet as I was putting on £2000 a time before. My how the mighty have fallen, but you learn in life and I still have my health and family [just].

It is still gambling though even though it was a small amount - you should really stop totally. I imagine it is a bit like giving up smoking or drinking too much. It only takes one ciggie or drink and you're back as a smoker or someone with a serious drinking problem
